Tackling societal challenges, highlighting the role of research and innovation as key drivers of social and economic prosperity and of environmental sustainability, ensuring the availability of and access to sufficient safe and nutritious food is key priority that impacts all EU citizens. As older adults are a growing and vulnerable group within Europe, specific attention for this age group is highly relevant. PROMISS will therefore contribute to the EU Agenda on active and healthy ageing by helping the food production become more suitable for consumers but also more innovative, productive and competitive whilst using fewer resources and reducing environmental impact.

PROMISS will notably develop key recommendations on how to prevent malnutrition among older persons, helping them remain healthier for longer and thus reducing the burden of care, and will work towards a better adaptation and relevance of food products for the benefit of both the ageing population and food SMEs and industries.
